Andrew, Tyler, Josh, and I hopped in the car early Thanksgiving monday, and headed to the Hunt Lake Trail for our second annual (newly named) Hikesgiving. We got to the parking lot and - to our dismay - realized there quite a few people already on the trail. We decided to make the most of it, and find a spot off the trail to make some lunch (rather than the usual spot at the Peninsula).
We made lunch at the top of a hill formed by the Canadian Shield that makes up the land. We ate a simple lunch of soup, beans, creamed corn, and hot dogs. We soon found ourselves below by the lake - discovering a beach Oasis created via a waterfall from a small creek. We decided to build a new fire here, only having birch bark and driftwood to start the blaze. We dug a pit and lined it with rocks to give slight shelter from the wind. There we enjoyed some pine needle tea, and eventually made our way back along the trail.
